👋🏼 Hello! I'm a UX designer based in New York 🍎
I enjoy crafting thoughtful, inclusive and accessible user-centric digital experiences.
Being an American citizen who grew up in India I appreciate and understand people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This has instilled an understanding of people's emotions and behaviours from a very young age.
I have learned untaught strategies to work with different personalities and an instinctual understanding of people's needs and behaviours which gives me a deep appreciation of diversity in all forms.
How I started.
What I care about.
Accessible design & mission-driven work
Designing for diversity, equity, and inclusion is at the core of what I do. I believe the best way to design innovative products is by practising Inclusive Design and prioritizing Accessibility.
Humanizing digital experiences & storytelling
As the field of technology and UX expands it is very common for them to start resembling one another. Still, there is much more you can do to make it authentic to a brand and more personal to the users. It can be distilled down to a desire to empower everyone to express their unique identity within the products they use.
Design systems & high-quality design
User experiences are not scattered experiences but rather are holistic experiences made of interconnected components & features. I believe this thinking is the best way to build products that continuously provide value to users and scale to the needs of users over time. This applies to high-quality visual design as well, it doesn't happen randomly but through thoughtful and intentional inputs.
What inspired/s me.
Graphic design
I have a Bachelor of design in graphic design from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad. My graduation project was to create a single onboarding experience for smart wearables.
Exchange & UX design
I went for an exchange semester to the Netherlands where I did a hybrid publication for my major project. This is where I got a first glimpse of what user experience is and it made me want to dive deeper for the same. I went back to India and designed my first mobile application as a part of the "interfaces and processes" module in college. There was no going back after that.
Falling in love with UX
Slowly I started exploring the many aspects of UX design. My fundamentals in graphic design were an added benefit since I realised visual design and UX go hand in hand.
Improving lives
I have seen my parents, grandparents struggle when it comes to technology. I want to bridge the gap between people and technology and make it accessible to all. Making a product usable and fun to use is my way of helping others meet their need.
Design thinking & creative problem-solving
I've always been passionate about leveraging creativity and design thinking to solve real problems. This is a mindset that I carry with me to this day. And, yes, you can be both data-driven and creative!
India
There is no other country as diverse as India. The people, the culture, the grandeur however it may be have molded me into the person I am today. I have been surrounded by people since a very young age and observing/studying and figuring out their needs has become like second nature to me.
